Saturday Beer Events

Two fun events happening this weekend. One in Baltimore and one in DC.

The first is being organized by our buddy Brian over at Baltimore Beer Guy and involves local beer and our awful MLB team.  But who’s watching the game when you’re hanging out with friends and drinking good beer?  It’s the Flying Dog/Pratt Street “Bad Birds, Good Beer” Orioles Pub Stroll! and involves pre-game and post-game local beer enjoyment.

Details of the event can be found here.

The other big event going on this weekend involves a DC Pub Crawl.

The Chesapeake Bay branch of SPBW (stands for Society of Preservation of Beers from the Wood) is organizing a Bring a Friend Metro Pub Crawl, visiting some of DC’s best beer bars. And thanks to Washington DC’s Metro train system, transportation around town will be a breeze. All you need to purchase is a $9 all-day Metro pass.

The group is meeting at the Greenbelt Metro station at 11am on Saturday and will first hit Churchkey (1337 14th St Northwest, Washington, DC 20005-3610) at noon. The event winds down at the Commonwealth Gastro Pub in Columbia Heights, around 7pm.

According to the event’s site: During the day we shall visit a variety of hostelries, at least a couple of which most people (even if they think they know DC) will not have visited before!

And if you live in downtown Baltimore, please be aware that it is possible to travel to Greenbelt Metro Station, using public transportation (meaning: SAFE!)  Simply take the Light Rail to BWI, then catch the B30 Express Bus (departs from Regional Bus Stop 2 – just outside BWI Light Rail Station) to Greenbelt Metro Station. Cost:  $6 each way.

Thanks to Sandy Mitchell for the heads up on this event.  He’s got even more details here.

There you go folks.  No plans this weekend?  You do now!  It’s going to be hot, so stay cool with good beer and good people who enjoy good beer.
